Fermanagh took a bad hit Tania. The houses next to us got hit badly last year with water coming in virtually destroying all the floors and saturating the walls, some handling. Was months before some got back in. Nothings been done yet and they're just praying for the river to stay down. So far so good, but once it breaks the bank they're helpess.

All you need in a recession. Can you imagine losing your job/income and your home coming up to Christmas. Devastating.

We think it's bad just because it is heavy rain but we should shut up when we see how miserable it is for others. I live on a hill so I am ok.

From what I've seen on the net it looks bad along the banks of the Shannon as well and it seems people aren't getting a lot of help from the authorities............

We don't seem to be equipped or have the resources in place to help people out. Brown offered 1 million to Cockermouth. It will take a lot more than that to sort things out and it will be the same all over the place. You would think that the army would be out trying to help out but you just don't see them anymore unless you look at the news and Iraq and Afghanistan. Years ago before these wars they were the first on the scene with help.

I live in central Tyrone Tania. We've been lucky this year, but the images of Fermanagh are mental, acres upon acres of flood lands.

There's talk of releasing more water at the dam Ballyshannon to try and lower the levels, but I don't know how much they can safely let through there. The south has been very badly hit in parts.
