Reuters reports that 81-year-old Eric Steward from Australia took a wrong turn onto a highway and only stopped to ask for directions after driving for nine hours. Stewart, who had no idea where he was, eventually approached a policeman at a petrol station to ask him for help. "This little old man came up to me saying he was lost," Victorian Police Senior Constable Clayton Smith said. "He handed me his mobile and asked if I could speak to his wife." Meanwhile, Stewart explained that he took a wrong turn and decided to keep going, saying: "I just went out on the road to have a drive, a nice peaceful drive." He added that he does not need a satellite navigation system because he has only been lost once. |

He was going to cause and accident with his driving , and when he decided to stop he would stop irrespective of where his car happened to be ...he went into the local garage and put petrol in the car, got his newspaper and irn bru and forgot all about his car ...it lay at the pumps for hours until they could locate the old guy ...he was sitting in the house but never heard the door . I hope to god i never get that bad but to be honest i think i,m heading in that direction . I used to hear about guys going in to the petrol station and ''forgetting'' to pay once they put in petrol .......i used to think "a likely story " ....but i did the same thing myself a couple of years back ...i had that much on my mind that i completely forgot to pay for the petrol ....i was sitting in the hosue a few hours later when it dawned on me that i could not remember paying for the petrol ....i went straight across to the garage and asked if i had forgot to pay for petrol i got that day ....the lady in the garage was very understanding ...and i was very embarassed ...the garage concered is straight across the road from me so they knew me well enough to realise that i would never intentionally do such a thing . I have never forgotten since i can tell you . Last edited by seanchai; 11-22-2009 at 06:07 PM |
