Default Robin van Persie injured in friendly match

Arsenal's Robin van Persie has been seriously injured while playing in a friendly for the Netherlands. The damage is to his ankle and he could be out of action for months.

Another player gets crocked in a totally pointless friendly.......

The Dutch Football Association has confirmed Arsenal's worst fears with the news Robin van Persie has definitely torn ankle ligaments.

Holland international van Persie was stretchered from the field just ten minutes into the international friendly with Italy on Saturday evening following a robust challenge from Azzurri centre-half Giorgio Chiellini.

He was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment, with Arsenal anxiously awaiting to learn the seriousness of the situation.

Dutch national coach Bert van Marwijk conceded the situation did not look good, and now ligament damage has been confirmed.

"The ankle ligaments are definitely torn," confirmed a Dutch FA spokesman.

"After the match our medical staff did not mention a break in the bone but the doctors will be able to tell us for sure. It does not look too good

Eduardo obviously hasn't been giving him tips on how to "evade " a challenge.

Maybe he needs an expert to teach him, he had better ask McGeady for help

It is a shame for RVP to be injured, just when he was starting toplay at his best, lets hope that he is back to full fitness soon.

arsenal will suffer like they did when he was out injured last season. Chelsea will now walk the league.

Don't know about chelsea walking the league. I'm not sure what the situation is with the ban on them signing new players, there was talk of it being suspended.

It is suspended at the moment because of an appeal, so we will have to wait the outcome of that

even with chelski's current squad and form they will walk the league. United, liverpool and arsenal aren't good enough to cope with injuries.

looks like van Persie could be out until next April. That could cost him his place in the world cup.
